Families living in Ottawa/Gatineau
Toy Testers Wanted for 2011!

CALLING OTTAWA/GATINEAU FAMILIES: TOY TESTERS WANTED

The Canadian Toy Testing Council, a non-profit organization testing toys for over 55+ years is looking for children from infant to 14 years to test toys!

The toys are tested in families’ home environments for eight weeks throughout the spring to fall season. The parents are required to fill out an evaluation report (approximately one hour for each toy).

It is the Council’s philosophy to evaluate each toy from children’s perspective and gain their input. Each toy is evaluated based on its design, function, safety, durability, battery consumption and play value.

Families living in the Ottawa-Gatineau area who love toys are invited to fill out an application form and send it to the CTTC office.

Those chosen will be required to attend a two-hour Testing Family Orientation Session and pay a $30 family membership fee for the year. (Please note that the membership fee is for administrative purposes as the CTTC is a non-profit organization.)

Families should submit applications now in order to secure a place in the next training session taking place in the New Year. Please note that you will be contacted by the CTTC office upon acceptance of your application.

We look forward to hearing from you!

MORE INFO ON BECOMING A CTTC TESTING FAMILY!

So you're thinking of becoming a CTTC toy testing family? Read on!

The Canadian Toy Testing Council is a non-profit organization which is celebrating over 55+ years of learning through play.

We are always looking for families to test toys, software and evaluate books. While we have completed training of new families for this year, we are compiling a waiting list of potential new testing families. We are always looking for families with new babies.

First of all, if you wish to test, we need to know where you live (so we can determine if we have distributors in your area), how many children you have and their ages. Right now our testing families are in the Ottawa/Gatineau area where our Head Office is located.

The cycle is such that membership goes from beginning of the year to the end; if you are a new member, you will need to undergo toy testing training to learn how to observe and prepare your paperwork reports. Toys are then distributed as they come in, and we fit toys for testing to the appropriate ages of the children.

You do not get a choice of toys to test and toys are placed in your home for a 6-8 week period. It is very important to return your toy and paperwork to the distributor by the due date so we can do a timely evaluation. Of course, our results are accessible to everyone via our web site (www.toy-testing.org).

If you are in the Ottawa area and would like to test, please send your address so we can send you an application form, or download an application form (in Microsoft Word format), fill it out and mail it in.

Once you are confirmed to attend an orientation session, we do ask that you join the Council with a $30 yearly (administrative) membership that supports our work (cheque, VISA, Mastercard, PayPal accepted).

If you do not live in the Ottawa/Gatineau area, but still wish to support the CTTC's ongoing toy, software and book evaluation programs, you are invited to join as a supporting member.
