ANNOUNCES THE TOP TOYS OF THE YEAR, NOVEMBER 2, 2006

NEW VENUE: BROOKSTREET HOTEL

OTTAWA – October 23, 2006 – The Canadian Toy Testing Council (CTTC) is presenting the top toys of the year on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at its new venue in the Brookstreet Hotel’s Ballroom, 525 Legget Drive, Kanata, ON 613-271-3388.

The CTTC is a non-profit organization with over 50 years’ experience of learning through play. The CTTC is dedicated to testing toys and providing families with the information necessary to make informed purchasing choices. “This year’s top picks reflect stylin’ toys that provide substantive play for imaginative children,” says Leigh Poirier, CTTC Executive Director.

Over 1,000 of the Council’s toy experts – children – our dynamic testers, play all year round testing hundreds of toys. The Council’s specially trained volunteer families evaluate and rate toys for safety, design, function, battery consumption, durability, ease of assembly and most importantly, play value.

The 2007 TOY REPORT, plus this year’s CTTC Great Books for Children, will be made available on the CTTC’s website at www.toy-testing.org as of November 2, 2006 at 10:30 a.m.

The testers will announce the CTTC/ENERGIZER BATTERY-OPERATED TOY OF THE YEAR, the CHILDREN’S CHOICE and BEST AWARDS as well as the GREAT BOOKS for children at this year’s National Media Conference.
